Lakehouse Style Home
The team at Custom Homes by Cory designed a lakehouse style home with artful mountain influences. “I want people to be drawn into the home from the moment they walk up the drive,” says Forrest and Cory Carpenter of Custom Homes by Cory. “It is our hope, as people walk through the home, they will find subtle surprises, little luxuries, and inspirations throughout.”
Those surprises start with the striking, double height vaulted Great Room with functional dormers that play up the airy lakehouse vibe. The L-shaped kitchen island with built-in booth provides plenty of prep space, room for gathering, and connection to the Great Room. Meanwhile, the dining room is separate but open and spacious with cathedral ceilings and light flooding in.
Features such as the one-of-a-kind elevated reading loft with views out the front and back, or the office and playrooms with convenient kitchenette above the garage help set this home apart. Custom Homes by Cory worked closely with the homeowners to maximize functionality and livability.

builder philosophy
Genuinely Custom
Custom Homes by Cory has been a family-owned and operated business since 1999. The company began with Forrest and Rick Jones, Forrest’s father-in-law and best friend. Together, he and Forrest built over 150 new custom homes and remodeled hundreds of homes throughout Johnson County and the surrounding areas. Cory focused on designing homes and adding her creative touch. Whether on dozens of acres of wooded, undeveloped land or on custom neighborhood lots, Custom Homes by Cory has built one-of-a-kind homes from under 2,000 S.F. to over 12,000 S.F.

While Rick is no longer with us, Custom Homes by Cory continues to embody the ideals of a family business. Rick’s legacy and demand for excellence lives on.
Custom Homes by Cory takes pride in building unique homes that fit the varying needs and preferences of their customers. Without sacrificing quality and workmanship, Custom Homes by Cory provides unparalleled flexibility throughout the design and construction process for a home that is genuinely custom.

DESIGNER PHILOSOPHY
Functional Sophistication
Custom Homes by Cory partnered with award winning Dale Hughes Interior Design. Dale strives to be both creative and inspirational when working with clients to achieve their vision. He relies on careful listening to help him understand clients needs so that they are excited by the completed project.

For the 2021 Home-A-Rama, Dale wanted to create a classic yet comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, what he calls functional sophistication. The main section of the house has been done in a soft soothing color palette. The open floor concept with high ceilings features a two-story stone fireplace with wainscoting accents on each side, which is in keeping with the home’s sense of elegance. The kitchen island is accented in a hue of blue with a banquette including a natural wood, hand-crafted table.
Throughout the rest of the home, you will find a different color palette with accented ceilings in each room. Upstairs, a snack bar is centrally located for convenience to the kid’s rooms and the home office. Meanwhile, the reading nook and kid’s play area are a couple of fun surprises that help to make this beautiful house a home.

Gorgeous home!
This home is gorgeous and so tastefully decorated, from the moment you walk in the front door all throughout.
Who did the pergola on the back patio?
Is there a basement? I see descending stairs, but can’t go down them on the virtual tour. This is my favorite house – I’d love to see more. Thanks.
