Inspired, Modern Prairie

This Modern Prairie home reflects elements of design that are rooted in the foundational influences of Japanese, Scandinavian, and early traditional American design.

Traditional themes meet contemporary styles and products in this showpiece home from Duke Homes. Clean lines and geometric details give this house a modern prairie style vibe. Traditional Japanese architecture, modern Scandinavian style, and the concepts of “lagom” and “hygge” inspired both the interior and exterior design.

The wide-open living room celebrates a floating steel staircase and through-house views from front to back. The light and airiness are counterbalanced by the cozy stone fireplace and touches of wood that keep the space grounded. Additionally, the backyard becomes a private oasis with amazing water views as it is framed by the lanai running the length of the house and carriage house to the right. Taking advantage of this, two extra-large sliding doors on the backside of the home create an expansive indoor to outdoor transition where the owners can extend their living space into the backyard retreat.

With the flex spaces inside that can transform and adapt as the family’s needs change and the more formal family spaces, this home looks to provide both the opportunity for lively activity and restful retreat.

builder philosophy

Dedication to Excellence

Duke Homes has been designing and building high-end custom homes for the past 35 years with a focus on timeless quality and character for each and every home. Dedicated to making a lasting impact on the families and communities they serve, Duke Homes thoughtfully crafts every home they build to be a unique and personal space that encourages family togetherness, as well as rest and retreat.

As a design builder, Duke’s design team works with clients from the very beginning, helping individuals select a lot, craft a home design, and design a site plan. The depth of experience and expertise at Duke Homes extends from the design team all the way to the construction team, where building is both an art and a science. Duke ensures that the highest quality products and materials are available and are installed using the industry’s best practices.

Duke Homes values striving for excellence, having integrity, and being servant-hearted. So, whether you are building your first home as a family or your retirement home, Duke Homes is dedicated to designing and building with these values in mind. It is this same relentless dedication to excellence that the Duke team also lives out in its other divisions; Duke Renovations, which focuses on residential remodels and Duke Commercial, which focuses on commercial construction.

DESIGNER PHILOSOPHY

Enduring, Yet Modern

For the interior design of this stylish Modern Prairie home, the Duke team worked in house to create an enduring, yet modern interior. Every Duke home is designed and built to enhance the family’s life experience through quality construction, caring attention to detail, and expertise in the total turnkey process. They value crafting timeless, elegant spaces while considering budget, schedule, function and aesthetics.

The overall design concept was to create a home with spaces specific for a family and their modern active lifestyle. A home that matched the energy of the family with the value of close-knit time together yet provides quiet personal retreat spaces. This home offers multiple places for working, studying, playing, and building memories around food and entertainment. The home is positioned on the property to engage with the beautiful outdoors that living in Aberdeen provides.

Clean lines and geometric details are a common theme throughout the house. The expansive glass areas, vertical stone pilasters, and floating roof forms give the exterior a strong presence. The interior balances cool soft tones with pops of bold materials and colors. The Modern Prairie style achieves a confident permanence using foundational influences of Japanese, Scandinavian, and American design history, with the resolution of these aesthetics firmly rooted in modern design.

Beautiful home!! Where did you find the coffee table used in the outdoor porch seating area? It would fit perfect in my space?
